Product Description

Featured in the May-June 2011 Muzzleloader Magazine, under Shooting The Bull by Mike Nesbitt.

The rifle was named after the legendary mountain man Liver Eating Johnston, the Crow Killer. Robert Redford portrayed Liver Eating Johnston in the movie Jeremiah Johnson.  Liver Eating Johnston was a mountain man of the American West 1824-1900.  His native American wife is said to have been killed by members of the Crow tribe, and Johnston set out for revenge across 20 years.  The legend says that he would cut out and eat  the liver of each man killed.  Eating the liver of a victim is a symbolic way of completing a revenge slaying.
The rifle has a deluxe curly maple stock, 1 inch straight octagon 32 inches Green Mountain match grade barrel, 1/70 twist, L&R locks, an upgraded rear Hawkens leaf sight, barrel and lock are antique brown with a pewter nose cap, German Silver trigger guard, toe plate and escutcheons. Comes in .50, .54, and .58 Calibers.

  1. Beautiful rifle that shoots better than it looks. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Dec 2012

Ordered left hand version in May 2011 and rifle arrived November 2012 (18 months later). Had to use Davis instead of L&R lock due to issues with L&R lock company. I was disappointed in the length of time it took to deliver, but the rifle was worth the wait. It is the most beautiful rifle I have seen. The wood to metal fit is perfect. Mine did not come with a cheek piece as pictured above. The wood on my rifle had more figure than the one pictured above. The beautiful thing about this rifle is that it shoots better than it looks. (5-shot 3" groups at 100 yards the first time I took it out.) I was kept informed of the status with my rifle throughout the build process and the rifle was delivered as requested. Very knowledgable staff that I spoke with about this rifle gave great suggestions.
