Product Description

In response to many requests, October Country now offers a shooting bag kit. Based upon our best selling bag, the Freetrapper, this kit contains everything you need to build a beautiful, functional shooting bag. It includes thread, a needle, pre-cut parts and complete instructions. The bag is a full 7 x 9" with a 2" gusset, a crescent pocket for inside and a 1 1/4" punched strap. A brass buckle is included. Of special note is that the front of this bag is cut using the tannery edge of the hide for extra strength and a finished appearance. Our bag kit can also be order with distressed leather for a used look, or 8 oz Buffalo in Tobacco or Chocolate colors.  Made in the USA by October Country, a manufacturer of muzzleloading supplies.

  1. Bridgers Possibles Bag Kit 5 Star Review

Really nice kit. I got the distressed leather and it really turned out great. Looks really good with my Trade Gun. Word of caution. Had trouble fitting the front of the bag with the gusset attached to the back. Find the ends and center and tie them down to keep things even on the top so that it comes even. I will be buying another one for my son-in-law.

This kit was very fun to build. The leather is high quality and rugged. All pieces were cut accurately, the final result is perfect my muzzleloader needs.
I will be ordering more of this kit.

  3. A Very Well Done Kit 5 Star Review

Be warned, you will need some leather working tools, as the kit does not come pre-punched and ready to stitch. However, the instructions are very thorough, and even a layman like me was capable of good results. I look forward to hunting with my new possible bag next season.

  4. Great Medium Difficulty Leatherworking Project 5 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Jan 2019

I was hesitant to purchase this at first as the only leatherworking experience my son had was those pre-punched moccasin kits. I decided to give it a go as the price was right! I would not say this is a beginner kit as it is not pre-punched and lining up the gusset can be challenging. I would also say this was not terribly difficult. I was easily able to guide my 12 year old son through the process of putting this together. The only help I gave was in centering the gusset. He punched and stitched it by himself.

That said, the leather is nice and supple. It does mark easily, but we were looking for an antiqued look and ordered distressed anyway. Following the instructions, all the seams will be external. We did not try to sew and invert. Not sure how well that would work.

  5. A Nice Result 4 Star Review

The Bridger Possibles Bag kit made a nice item with a few embellishments from the scraps bought at the same time. I accepted that all of the seams couldn't be hidden by turning the bag inside out, but did turn before adding the back. Worked well. Used some of the scraps to create a belt type closure. More scraps to make a cover for a brass powder flask.

Good buy but the instructions were not for the novice. The bag looks nice.

  7. Nice Leather, Lousy Instructions 3 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jun 2016

After years of making shooting bags and just not getting as nice a result as I'd like to, I found the Bridger Bag Kit. The kit comes with complete with instructions, so I figure I might actually be able to make a pouch nearly as nice as ones from October Country.

The instructions are one side of a page, with smudged printing and tiny pictures that are poorly drawn from the start. They also describe a simple butted seam and not a turned pouch, like the Freetrapper Pouch which is the base pattern.

The leather is outstanding though! I wish OC sold it in bulk and not just scrap pieces!

If you have experience making pouches, this is still a great starting point. If not, just buy the Freetrapper for $13.00 more.
