Description
We make our short starter with a hardwood ball and a solid brass leg. The small ball seater is brass as well. The leg is cupped for round balls. The best part of the short starter is that the brass leg won't break like some wood starters. You can select the option to have the leg threaded 10-32 or 8-32 for a jag, for an additional $4.00. Made in the USA by October Country, a manufacturer of muzzleloading supplies.

Some short starters don't have what it takes, this one will ...

Brass is stronger
I broke my wooden short starter. This is the best replacement. Stronger, more durable. Should last a lifetime.

.32 ball starter
This is the first short ball starter I’ve found that actually fits my .32 rifle properly.

Custom Short Starter.
I needed a Short Starter for my .50 cal rifle. I also needed a ramrod for my .50 cal Queen Anne flintlock pistol. I called up October Country, spoke to Gina, and since they make the ramrods in-house, they made me a Short Starter that was long enough to use as a ramrod. I liked that so much that I bought one in .36 cal, for when a get a pistol to match my Lehigh Valley flinter. Shipping was fast, with tracking. I'll certainly be back!

Good quality ball starter for patched round ball loads
This product met my expectations. It's nothing fancy, but totally functional. I would recommend this product if asked to do so.
